http://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/Allan_Richter/with-liberty-and-birth-control_b_4979376_309141416.html Rev. Debra Haffner said “I hope you will join us in praying for the Supreme Court Justices to assure religious liberty for all -- and that you will also hold the millions of women who want and need birth control in their health insurance coverage in your hearts.” Birth control is widely available. Any colleges that have been making birth control available free on campuses are not being prohibited from continuing so. The author is not, as she suggest fighting that battle again as she suggests. There is no birth control availability crisis. The author is creating an imagined crisis to serve her own political objectives. The real issue is whether there is a compelling need to force employers to violate their religious conscious strong enough to overrides a constitutionally protected right. Free birth control is not a constitutionally protected right. Freedom of religion is. Protecting religious freedom from state interference is a compelling interest of free societies. It should be a compelling interest for all people who value freedom. The argument that some are being denied a right to birth control is a red hearing serving political ends. Nobody is being denied a right to use birth control nor is it being suggested that anyone be denied access to birth control. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/Allan_Richter/with-liberty-and-birth-control_b_4979376_30914141 www.huffingtonpost.com
